Welcome to New Hope Herp!

I started this blog by compiling my HOURS of research in hopes of helping new reptile owners who want to make sure their little critter is well taken care of and provide a Complete* reptile care guide.

There are a lot of great resources online but I feel like sometimes you have to sort through a lot of information (and misinformation) to understand certain key areas of reptile keeping. And the more that I researched and learned, the more I realized how much we as a society don’t really understand about these adorable little animals!

From heat lamps to substrate... I try to cover it all and provide you with as much information as you will need to make the best choices for YOUR reptile.

Which is where you come in…

Although I have experience working with all kinds of animals, my passion is reptiles! I feel that they are one of the most misunderstood animals in the trade and unfortunately that misunderstanding can lead to poor care. I mean, don’t we all make sure our cats and dogs are up-to-date on their vaccinations and immunizations so they stay healthy? Don’t we take them to the vet if they are sick? I believe that same love and care we give our furry babies should also be given to our scaly ones!

Maybe you only stumbled across my blog because your child has to take care of a reptile for school, or maybe where you live doesn’t allow cats or dogs but you would really like a pet to care for. Regardless, I’m happy you’re here! Take a look around and also make sure to check out our Reptile Care Guides section.

*Unfortunately there is not a perfect and foolproof guide on how to care for your reptile. I want nothing more than for my animals to be safe, happy and healthy and for yours to be the same! With that being said, I am NOT an expert. I am simply a passionate animal lover that has done a lot of research and want what’s best for my fur and scaly babies. Please always consult a licensed and experienced Exotic Veterinarian with any concerns you have about your reptiles needs and care.
